Hermes
(ancient.-greek Ἑρμῆς)— in ancient Greek mythology, the god of commerce, profits, rationality, dexterity and eloquence, giving wealth and income in commerce, the god of athletes. Patron of heralds, ambassadors, shepherds, travelers; patron of magic, alchemy and astrology. The messenger of the gods invented the measures, the numbers, the alphabet and taught the people.
